Princeton SCEA 2020 Deferred Students Thread

ACCEPTED!! Congrats to everyone who was accepted, and to those who were not, I sincerely wish you all the best of luck.

I enrolled literally 30 minutes after I saw my decision, once I stopped sobbing happy tears. Princeton does not require a deposit! Nice, for now hahaha.

Accepted! Crying

u’ll find the chicken mama at yale next year ~:> ~:>

Looking through the results, it seems as if the LOCI does relatively little to impact the final decision. Many of the deferred to accepted students did not send in LOCIs (or only minor updates), while many applicants who sent in quality LOCIs were rejected. Last year might have been an anomaly, but it should be taken into consideration that this year’s RD rate was more than 1.25% lower than last year’s. It should also be noted that those with successful LOCIs are more likely to report, resulting in an inflation in the LOCI acceptance rate on CC.

To students who send in LOCIs next year… do not rely on it for an acceptance. An acceptance with a LOCI is the exception, not the norm! Hopefully this will reduce the amount of anxiety and worrying over LOCIs next year.

Also, e-mails from Princeton mean absolutely nothing, so don’t worry about them. Good luck to all.

I sent in a LOCI, an update letter concerning my activities during February break (I got a job- I’ll need it for next year!!), sent in some of the best school work I’ve ever done, and a letter of recommendation from someone who knows me outside of school, and my guidance counselor called Princeton two times and wrote her a letter as well. I got in!! I am truly convinced that my efforts resulted in my admission. As my guidance counselor said: “They differed you early because they weren’t sure enough about you to accept you. If you don’t give them any more information, they’re not going to accept you again.”
I believe that all of the things I sent truly pushed me over the edge in admissions. They saw how I was outside of the classroom, what I did during my free time, and my writing skill. I am so glad that I did all of this, because now I’m going to my dream school. If you are deferred next year and YOU KNOW Princeton is the one, do everything you can to show them how you stand out from the other 29,000 kids, You have nothing to lose!
