@APrincetonian I don’t think confirmation matters. Out of the people who responded including me, there were 16 who said no confirmation and 3 who got confirmation. That would be around a 15.7% acceptance rate if confirmation=acceptance, and personally I think that’s low for CC. On this thread or another thread, I heard that CC had a 40ish% acceptance rate, and I don’t think that would drop drastically over the years. Also, the financial aid office is separate from the admissions office, so it’s impossible to tell. However we can learn more by the circumstances surrounding your confirmation, along with those of @ivyleaguer69 and @Princetonian2020. When exactly did you get the email, send the documents, and receive the confirmation? I think I’m just trying to make sense of whatever small and probably insignificant and skewed data I have because I just can’t wait patiently for decisions. But I don’t really think there is a correlation.
@meaa7130 - I agree with you on all counts and would ask you to include in your data the dates that the stuff was submitted. My DS received the request on 12/2 and sent the forms that evening (12/2). No reply.
ETA - if someone feels like looking at the results thread for last year, we can get real data on the CC rate of admission/reporting, but I agree it should be at least 35%.
Every time my phone buzzes & I can’t see the alert, I rush to check email hoping it’s from Princeton. (Son set his Common App email to mine because he was getting flooded with spam after taking the SAT, ACT, etcetera.)
certainly Princeton will have a record low early acceptance rate after goosing it by dropping Subject tests as a requirement… Duke’s early number’s out - not that different from last year

As a Princeton freshman, wishing all ya guys good luck! Oh and Huck Farvard!
This thread is definitely scaring me a bit. I haven’t received my financial aid confirmation yet either, so I feel doubtful of my chances. Hopefully things will work out in the end.
I’m starting to believe that the decision date will be the 17th or 18th given the updates we have received. Princeton is really late this year; I’m starting to fear that I won’t receive my decision back until winter break starts. Hopefully, we’ll get a confirmation email soon. This wait is making me rather anxious.
In the meantime, however, let’s “ambush” the other EA threads with good luck messages. Half of the ivies are releasing today, so the applicants there are going through the same experiences that we will have to go through next week. In addition, it won’t take too long to write a message, and I’m sure that it’ll make someone’s day.

That’s great to hear. I couldn’t believe what I saw when I actually patrolled the entire thread from last year’s SCEA. I know there’s some inaccuracy here but last year CC members were actually accepted at a rate of 55%: 32 of the 59 respondents indicated that they had been accepted, 26 indicated a deferral, and one really angry student who claims to have a 2400 indicated a straight-up rejection. However, I did notice once I reached the last page that at least one (admitted) user posted a second time, though that was because he said he would post stats later (which he then did) so I removed him from the count. Others could have double posted and/or lied too, so of course take it with a grain of salt.
Other things to note looking at these statistics is that since CC has no credential requirement, we as a community are a random sampling, and the quality of applicants might not be constant from year to year. This year we could be made up of stronger applicants and have a better acceptance rate, or we might be a weaker pool and have a lower one.
Also consider that it’s possible that people, particularly the accepted people, might just come in to post their results and may not have been active during the discussion thread, and some people (particularly disappointed deferred students) may have been active in the thread but not posted their result. That could skew the numbers towards having a better chance than usual. I’m not going to cross-reference the threads for consistency, though, that’s just too many posts to wade through.
Finally, remember that’s nothing’s ever promised, but nothing’s impossible. From the ones deferred, at least another handful are accepted in the later round. This does, however seem to confirm above and beyond that @meaa7130 is correct that there is no correlation. I did not expect what I saw, and I honestly didn’t believe it when I read you say 35%. I don’t think I ever looked through the whole thread–the front few pages are heavily loaded with deferrals while the later ones have more acceptances. I just assumed that the same bleak outlook (though it really isn’t as bleak as I thought it was, now that I look back at it) would persist through the entire thread.
Also tagging @fretfulmother since she requested insight as well. I’m thinking that in January once college applications are over I might spend some time making a bot to do this automatically. It’ll keep my mind from worrying too hard (distraction, even if it’s still college-related) and I’m mildly interested in data collection and analysis. That’ll be an interesting project, if only I could use it for a maker supplement…
@azwu331 Dartmouth is releasing on the 15th FYI
@gearsstudio That was just for this week. I’ll update with a separate post on next week’s schools during the weekend. Good luck to you guys!
RE Dartmouth release on the 15th, is that from new info or just from posted dates?
@JHollywood The Dartmouth date hasn’t been officially released but all speculation and rumors point towards the 15th.
Yh, 15th seems most likely. The wait is on
@gearsstudio @WizDexter99 You guys are lucky to have a likely release date! Princeton’s decision is going to be really late, and we still don’t have any information as to when they’ll release their decisions. They were supposed to release on the 14th, but then pushed it to the 15th or 16th, and now we’re assuming that they’ll release on the 17th or 18th. Give it a few days and I wouldn’t be surprised if they released the week of Christmas!
@azwu331 I just want to find out. The longer it takes the more hopeless I get, so maybe they’ll delay it enough so that I won’t even have any excitement when I get my imminent deferral, so I won’t be sad. That wouldn’t be too bad, I guess.
@meaa7130 Me too. I guess the good news is that Princeton will be releasing its release date tomorrow or some time very soon (however, I’ve learned not to expect much). At least this postponement will give me more time to write my other essays and prepare my other applications. I’m trying to keep my hopes down so that my decision won’t hurt as much when I receive it next week.
Out of curiosity… Anyone else planning to be done with applications if accepted? Or are most of you still planning to send in other RD applications regardless?
@jumbletumbles Done!
My son has 3 RD applications out & will be doing 2 more if deferred or rejected by Princeton.
Hey guys!! I was just wondering why we are so sure Princeton won’t be releasing decisions until late next week …isn’t it still a possibility that they will be released Monday? All other Ivies have stayed on track with their release dates, and I personally expect Princeton to do the same. Every one seems to be getting different answers when they call the admissions committee, and I believe Harvard only gave 2 days notice before they released decisions today. So I think we all should still keep some hope that we won’t be waiting that much longer. I can’t wait to see what happens with everyone!!
