They are unlikely to negotiate. You’re going to want to look for loans, or else communicate some kind of special circumstance that makes your income or your assets unsuitable for tuition.

I am in the same situation. Like what posters said in the Harvard thread, you should look for outside scholarships to cut down on the price of admission or figure out a good way to make money. I’m looking into tutoring for standardized test and high achieving high schoolers, since you can charge a pretty decent rate for that if you know what you’re donig. You could also try to write software or run a website, but that is less reliable.

You guys overestimate his/her assets most likely. Even if your family makes 200k gross and has 200k in assets (not too much for that level of income) you get no aid at all. Good luck convincing your family to blow all of their investments on your education.

Exactly, @huehuehue32. It’s really upsetting me. But, I mean finding that much money in scholarships is going to be really tough. I mean I have a couple of businesses that I run, but my parents (who are co-signed on my bank account) also refuse to let me use that money. I don’t get it. But what other alternatives are there if I really want to go (if I get in of course)?

Princeton’s supplement better come out soon! School is starting in a week!

September 3rd for me…

I have college classes that start on the 28th. My regular school starts on the 4th

The writing supplement for the common app came out yesterday

It looks like the only difference is one new essay prompt and an extracurricular short answer

I am doing Princeton SCEA!

… and it looks like I am on the fence again. Call from 609. Not sure I can actually get in, or if I should even really be there in the end.

Probably applying Princeton SCEA or Yale SCEA
I have a question about research supplements…anyone know about this…
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1551522-research-supplement-question.html

Well I just applied SCEA. Guess it’s time to pray now!

Hey everyone, I’m looking for some advice. I got National Merit Letter of Commendation today. My state’s national merit semifinalist cutoff is low compared to other states. Would it hurt me to put this on my app? Would leaving it off be better? Missed the cutoff by one point :(

Going to apply SCEA as soon as I finish that 500 word essay. For art supplements, we have to mail them by November 4th, correct?

I’m pretty sure we have until November 6th for arts supplements, but I’ll check. I only have to put the finishing touches on my essays and then I am done!

Gahh I wish we would get an extension on the deadline as well

I’m applying as well. How risky is it if I submit on Tuesday? I hope im not cutting it too close…

What are we supposed to do about the title? It’s showing up as left aligned in the preview and I don’t know how to make it middle-aligned. Does it even really matter that much?

I’m sure everyone worrying about getting into Princeton is highly qualified.
And then there is me xD

AAAAh I can’t believe the app is due in 5 days! I’m basically done, just editing, but this is probably one of the most stressful things I will ever do in my life D: I have the stats to get in (2400, val, leadership, etc.) but I know that a ton of other applicants are just as qualified. Ugh, I’m sure a lot of you are in the same boat, so sorry, I just needed to vent. Good luck to everyone!
