Princeton University Class of 2016 SCEA Thread

This thread is considerably shorter (as has been noted in earlier posts). 1/3 the views of Stanford’s SCEA thread. Wonder if this means less applicants or just more reticent ones. Also, if considerably fewer applicants apply (as compared to other schools), do you think they will lower admit rates?

Saugus, the website does say mid-December. Meh.

^
The admissions committee lowering the admit rate worries me as well.

Would you rather 5,500 students apply and 800 get in? (14.5% acceptance rate)
Or 3000 students apply and 600-700 get in? (20-23% acceptance rate)

600 is an underestimate for the acceptances. I think unless they receive <2000 applications (which is impossible), they will accept at least 700.

Does anyone know how long it takes for Princeton to receive the official SATs scores? The collegeboard site for mine said it sent on the 3rd of November (I sent it on the 30th October or somewhere around that - i know it’s a bit late). Also, my name registered on collegeboard is different from the commonapp (Viet Anh D. Nguyen vs. Dinh Viet Anh Nguyen - argh it’s complicated cos the collegeboard website didn’t let me register Dinh Viet Anh Nguyen due to number of letters restriction, like seriously), should I inform the admission office about that?

My SAT 2s took a while to get sent there, I sent them on the 21st, and they received them 2 days ago. However, my ACT was sent within a week.

My SAT’s were sent October 28, Princeton received them around 2-3 days ago.

See the Princeton scea pledge thread. 3574 applied early

yeah, sent it in a while ago… (im applying SCEA) now im just scanning the net for more information cause i gotta do something…

approx. 12 applicants from my school so far, 5 applied EA with 1 of them being an athlete (i think hes a recruit)

i hate to say this, because i worry you will hate me… but although i know that there’s no such thing as “feeling good” about a princeton app, i do have both parents and my sister as alum, and i am a women applying to engineering… but really… there is still such a small chance… already had interview

senior year is fine, teachers dont understand importance of grades, but i do what i can to keep them up…

anyone know when emails got sent out back when they had ED? also, does Princeton want first quarter grades for EA candidates? AGGGG i just wanna know…

@chickybugger on their website somewhere it says they would like to see your first quarter grades. my counselor sent them without asking so I’d assume its pretty much mandated.

Where do we check online in December to find out if we got accepted/deferred/ rejected?

@dariceguy13: I haven’t received anything requesting quarter grades from Princeton, but know my counselor didn’t submit them. My school has a policy that we don’t send them unless we have a form from the college requesting them and Princeton provided no such form.

I imagine that they aren’t mandating them and aren’t really yet organized enough to follow up, since it’s the first time they’re doing EA in a while.

I submitted before Halloween, everything is in…still no notification of an interview which stresses me out. Hoping it’s because I live in south GA/north FL and there aren’t any interviewing alum in the area, but still would feel better if I was notified. Anyone know when Dec. 15th we will hear?

I am not really sure if we even hear on December 15th. We learn by “Mid-December,” which gives them flexibility. I would not be surprised if we learned earlier or later than the 15th. I know last year they learned at 5 pm.

I don’t think you guys should worry about the interview. I think I submitted on October 30th and I just got called for an interview today, so it’s been almost three weeks.

Should the quarter grade reports be submitted to Princeton? Do the applicants receive notification from Princeton asking for it?

Never knew this was a requirement until saw one of the posts on this here.

where is it asked for?? cant see it in their website.

is it a cause of worry if it has NOT been submitted?

thanks

Found this on Princeton’s website under Single Choice Early Action FAQs:

If I am applying early, do I need to submit first quarter and trimester grades from my senior year in high school?

“Yes, if possible, please ask your college counselor to submit any senior grades if your high school has them available.”

I don’t believe it to be a detriment if you don’t submit them, but you can probably still try if you want.

For schools that are on semester schedules, this seems impossible.

I submitted everything on Oct 25 and still haven’t gotten an interview notification. I know other people who live near me who have already had their Princeton interview…is this a cause for worry? Should I call up the admissions office and ask them about it? Also, how do you get an interview notification - email, cell #, home #?

And for those who asked about how many people applied SCEA to Princeton…it’s 3547 (http://www.nytimes.com/2011/11/10/education/princeton-is-swamped-in-early-applications.html</a>). Dartmouth is 1800, Brown is 2900, MIT is 6102, Stanford is 5880, and UPenn is 4510.

Well, had my interview last week, he said a couple of times that I’d be a really good fit and that he hoped my application was received well. Anyone else have an experience like that?

Yes. My interviewer said that as well. He was super chill and interesting.
