Princeton University Class of 2023 SCEA Applicants Thread

@Chemeng102 It took about 45 mins. brought resume, but he did not even ask for. He was mostly only trying to help answering questions. Good luck!

Thank You. I had a phone conversation with my interviewer earlier. He mentioned not to bring resume. Like you said, his main focus is to answer our questions.

when do they stop interviewing people?

My son just received an email from Princeton today giving the name and email address of the assigned interviewer saying he would be contacted by them soon. We live in NJ and my son submitted his app on Oct 31.

Hi guys, did ur interviewers seem to be closely associated with the interests u indicated on ur applications? Like did they have the same major or participate in the same activities u do?

@Izallgood5610

A couple years ago when my musician son was interviewed, he was paired with an alum who’s also a musician himself. However, such match up is an exception rather than a rule, so I wouldn’t expect it. It all depends on the availability of interviewers in your area. With the rest of interviews with other schools, he wasn’t matched up at all. Even after you’re admitted, Princeton takes care to match you up with, say, which residential college, your dorm room and roommate preferences, etc.

just had my interview yesterday! feel free to ask any questions

where are you applying from?

@bananapecanpancakeswithsyrup yes, me

HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE! just wanted to say that although I do not know most of you, this is a kind of stressful time where we don’t know where we will spend the next four years. a GENUINE best of luck to everyone applying and for everyone to get into the best school for them (and hopefully that’s Princeton?)

@geneticist721
Thanks a lot! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone and best of luck!!! <:-P

Is anyone else here from Houston?

Any guesses on the exact date that we’ll get the decision? I’ve been hearing Dec. 13th.

No clue at all.

what’s the tag? I’d love to check it out! I submitted an instrumental arts supplement!

I’m wondering the same thing. I just procrastinated some homework by making a terrible analysis of the past years’ decision dates. I got the information from the yearly posts Princeton makes about decisions, such as this one (https://www.princeton.edu/news/2017/12/13/princeton-offers-early-action-admission-799-students-class-2022) Please enjoy! This analysis comes completely free with sketchy logic!

Princeton EA
2017 - 14.7% - 12/13 - Wednesday
2016 - 15.4% - 12/15 - Thursday
2015 - 18.6% - 12/16 - Wednesday
2014 - 18.5% - 12/15 - Monday
2013 - 18.5% - 12/16 - Monday
2011 - 21.1% - 12/15 - Thurs

Considering that the 15th is a Saturday, and therefore a day when the office of admissions should be closed, we can infer that the decisions must be released on the 13th or 14th.

Decisions have always seemed to be released on a Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. This would eliminate the 14th from being the date of admission notification, as it is a Friday. (Terrible logic is fun logic!)

Through this, we can infer that decisions will be released on Thursday, the 13th of December in 2018.

@ejc000 Thanks for this! I know that we’ll be notified a few days before of the exact time and date when the decisions are released, but I feel like getting an idea right now of when to expect the decision allows for extended mental preparation, haha.

Hi all, I hope everyone is great! Has anyone received requests for progress reports? I know this has happened in past years.

@Mc19and22 I looked on the Princeton SCEA early action page from last year, and it seemed that people were receiving the progress report requests within the first few days of December. However, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. Even though most of the accepted people said they got this request, there were still some who were accepted and didn’t get the request.

What are progress reports? Are they the same as likely letters? First time I am hearing about them.
