Woops i just realized that you meant Cornell as in the girl’s school…not your school. Looks like it’s my turn to be herp derping xD

no updates from Princeton yet… anyone else?

I called Princeton today and apparently they have accepted in the range of 20 to 30 something people off the waitlist so far. The waitlist will still remain open until June 30 so any acceptances off the waitlist until then will remain dependent on summer melt.

Crap…

OMG! OREngineering, I have read the whole thread today. I realized that I am in the exact same position with you that I wanted to post. Accepted to Berkeley engineering and apparently waitlisted in Princeton. Hope we can make it, but I am getting desperate…

lol did you send in any letters or updates to princeton?

also message me with your facebook pleaseee! :D

I sent a letter just after we got the decisions and also sent an update about my recent grades and awards.

GOOD LUCK TO EVERYONE ON THIS WAITLIST!!! I feel stressed for you all. I hope you all get in!

ORE - I’m rooting for you too! I wish they had a LIKE button that alumni could press:).

Thanks sparkle and Alumother! :)

I really hope I get off…but it’s hard not to be pessimistic when there are 11 days left until the waitlist closes…They have already accepted so many people off the waitlist (highest summer melt has been is 40 students I believe) so their class is frankly near full capacity…The fact that they have received both my letters and updates on file yet haven’t given me that glorious call means that I am somewhat undesirable to them…

I certainly would not say you are somewhat undesirable to them. You are on the waitlist, which means they wanted to accept you but there just is not enough room.

I’ve told this story somewhere here before, but my D was on the train once and overheard an admissions officer talking about how heartbreaking it is that they can’t accept all the students that qualify/deserve to attend Princeton. D said the lady was tearing up just talking about it. It’s just plain bad luck of the numbers.

That said, I really really really hope you get in, ORE! We are all rooting for you!

Each year one student has made postings on CC that show that they have both the maturity and wisdom that you would like to see them admitted. ORE, I hope for the best for you.

The university makes use of the wait list to fill holes in the class. If the two tuba players that were offered decline to attend admissions may decide to offer another tuba player. A student that does not get off the wait list is not less desirable; they may not fill the specific need for a balanced class. One of my best friends in grad school went to Berkeley. As a Californian Berkeley was his first choice.

PtonAlumnus – Was “SilverTurtle” accepted last year and if not, to whom did we lose him?

Silverturtle was in the high school class of 2010. He is currently attending Brown University.

Thanks, PtonAlumnus. It means a lot.
And yeah I am aware that they need to fill niches…which puzzles me further because I am a female in engineering and Princeton’s female and engineering percentages dropped from admitted to matriculated :/

Today is the last day I have to go to school in order to redeem a scholarship. I’ve been waiting until now because the school wants to know to what college it should make the check payable…but I haven’t heard anything back from Princeton. My counselor hasn’t heard anything from Princeton either – no backdoor final transcript requests like the others’ counselors received. At this point I’ve accepted the reality that I most likely didn’t get off/will not get off the waitlist for Princeton. I am close to calling the waitlist off myself rather the other way around. It disappoints me not only how Princeton hasn’t released an update by now on waitlist progress and instead has people call to inquire about waitlist progress themselves, but also how I haven’t heard anything back from the admissions office two weeks after my 3 page letter arrived. It took 3 weeks of soul searching and writing and I had it formatted into an article from The Daily Princetonian on the new newspaper’s website, with updates molded as a Disqus comment. Yet I have heard nothing at all in regards to my status on the waitlist after such great efforts and lengths. The admissions officer I talked to the other simply said that “There may be a chance you still get off the waitlist” after I asked her if she had my most recent letter on file and if Princeton would still be taking people off the waitlist. I don’t know if she is leading me on or not. Probably the former because she doesn’t want to crush anyone’s soul.

The waitlist limbo shouldn’t be this painful. I wish in the future that Princeton can spare the pain for waitlist students by creating an active waitlist that allows waitlistees to more accurately gauge their chances of getting off the waitlist.

And the truth is Princeton only has 2 or 3 days to take anyone off the waitlist (this coming Monday, Tuesday, and possibly Wednesday) before they send out letters saying the waitlist has closed by July 1…

Because I’m also in the college class of 2017, I’m not sure if I am qualified to make this assessment, but, OREngineering, you really deserve to get in. As a fellow wait lister, I have been checking this forum sporadically, and I always see a sincere post from you; it’s easy to tell how much work you have put into this process. As the chance of admission are rapidly approaching zero for us, we should be happy with our current colleges (Berkely and Williams are both fantastic schools) and at least take a little pride in the fact that admissions thought we were qualified. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors.

Has anyone been accepted in these past couple of days?

Nope. 10 char

I had my counselor call the admissions office. The admissions office said they would let everyone know waitlist decisions by around July 1st. That doesn’t sound too good…that’s basically when the waitlist closes… I’m sure they have had at least one or two spots open up since I last called them. I don’t think they would leave accepted waitlist students in the dark until the waitlist close date ._.
