My son's admissions counselor said there are no failing scores on the CFA. That the worst case scenario is that they would have you take it again. I would suggest you get the CFA over with and move on with your application. Your scores are as good overall as my son's and he got an LOA in November. If you have a serious doubt, you really ought to call your admissions counselor.

RTBDad, i think there are minimums (They are listed in the precandidate kit) and i think you need to score above those.

Caddyshack, sorry but i havent gotten your gender: Male or female? Im just asking so we can get a better view on how well you did on your CFA.

Sounds like your athletic director is a bum. I had some problems with mine, so I had a Lt. do it...it went much smoother and was much less stressful.

With that said if you think you can improve your scores in the time you have I think you should.

i'm a male, i know i should probably take it again but some of you on here have said send them anyway? everything else on my app is good except for the cfa....is it possible to send these? and then take it again and send the new cfa scores? I'm guessing no...but I just thought i'd ask...

Isn't it getting preety late for applications? I thought the deadline was the end of january.

Caddy, we all tend to get conflicting advice even from official sources. However, it is pretty sure that you cannot send in one set of CFA scores and then another. I did talk directly to an admissions counselor about this problem, and it might set your mind at ease to call yours, too. My son and I really stressed about this, and one phone call really cleared it all up with very positive results.

alright, i will call my admissions officer tommorow, thanks

Any hints for the basketball throw?
I tried it yesterday and was able to get it 55-60 feet, but that seems much lower than the maximum(105). Is that normal?

It seems like doing well on that event is a matter of learning and mastering a technique than it is stregnth.
What is it supposed to measure?

"What is it supposed to measure?"

Nothing you'll ever be tested on as a cadet.

I think the trick is to just have it resting in your palm then whip your arm around like a windmill with your palm ending up facing away from you, so that you are rotating your shoulder...another thing is to lean back and balance yourself with your other arm...just practice it.

Ask you PE teacher to give you a hand. I think 90% of it is technique. Sure enough the first few times i did it i got lower 50s but with his advice i got near 70 which was pretty good.

He actually explained the purpose of the basketbal throw which some people wounder. He said it was to make sure you could throw a grenade. He said if anything it should be with a baseball. And he said the only time he used hand grenades he threw them underhand. He was a "special force officer" in vietnam. Actually his sons are "special force" as well (::cough cough D-word::).

So yeah, having an extra set of eyes watch how you do it helps alot.

Best of luck!

It's actually a preety decent measure of shoulder strength.

Thanks, I'll practice it.

called my counselor today, he told me to send in my scores, and then wait and see...he said the worst they would do would be to ask me to take it again....
