Principal Nomination

Hey guys (and gals),

I a new member to the forum and I just wanted to say thnx to everyone who has been posting on this site. Y’all do not know how helpful and inspirational this site has been through my application process. I have finally finished everything there is to be done (application, congressional interviews, etc.) and am now in the worst part of the process. Waiting! Hopefully some of us will be classmates next year. I have a senatorial principal nomination, but no LOA. Do any of you know what exactly it means to be a principal nominee? The website says that as long the principal nominee is qualified they will get in. What does this mean as long as one is qualified? Medically, scholastically or both? I just don’t see how you could get a principal nomination and not be qualified. Sorry to ramble but I’m excited about my chances at getting in.

As long as you are medically and physically qualified, you should be fine. Of course, you must qualify academically, but if you have a senatorial nom. I don't think that is a problem!

Again, LOAs don't matter, they are just a nice "extra."

Principal nomination means they rank how they want their nominees to get it. Of the 10 he/she nominated for that slot at the academy, you have priority for having the nomination to get in assuming you are fully qualified (I'm sure you are). Hope that's not confusing.

Keep in mind, LOA's are only offered to something like 200 of the eventual 1600 or so appointments. I got senate nom in November, congressional in December, appointment (Never got an LOA) in March. So, yes, waiting sucks, but it doesn't mean your out of the game in the least!

This seemed to be a good web site that may be able to answer some questions. There are several sections refering to cadets.
