hey guys,

i was wondering if there is a school printing network for students (balance for # of sheets of paper used, printing stations etc.) at USC or should we expect to bring/buy a personal printer. Ink cartridges certainly aren't cheap these days and I won't be able to bring a printer from the east coast, so I'm hoping there is some sort of system in place..

I’m looking to bring my laser printer from home. Then again, I live fairly close to SC so transportation of the printer itself won’t be a problem. I suggest, if you are thinking of printing a good volume of stuff, you get a laser printer. Toner cartridges may cost a bit, but it’ll last.

you can print at the libraries for something like 10 cents per B&W page or $1 per color page.

however there are other methods to get cheaper (read: free) printing, especially if you have a work/study job in an office setting…

most people have a printer in their room or share with their roommate splitting the costs of ink/paper

Generally speaking, there’s not really any “free” printing at USC. However, there are a few exceptions, the 2 that I’m aware of being at Annenberg and Marshall. At Annenberg, I believe their students get unlimited free printing within Annenberg itself. Marshall gives each student (I believe) $50 worth of printing within Marshall.

If you’re an engineer, and not a white male, you can join the Center for Engineering Diversity and get free printing there. Course, I never bothered, I have a B/W laser printer at home, and if I need to print in color, I borrow a friend’s printer, use the one in the lab I have access to, or pay $1 per page.

Correcting what akalboy said, Marshall students get $5 worth of printing per semester (that’s 50 B/W pages per semester).

Annenberg gets free printing for class purposes - no fliers (unless you’re sneaky).
