I am interested in applying for Stanford University but I have been quite confused with regards to the common application process. It says "Please be sure your Common Application ID number appears on any form you download from the Common Application ID website." I've tried to log in as suggested on the Stanford website before downloading the form but I don't seem to find a way to get the CA ID onto my form. Does anyone know what I'm supposed to do to meet this requirement?

Oh yes :) I've also been wondering. The official statement from Stanford says that there is no advantage in applying early at Stanford (or something to that extent). Why would people apply early then?
You see I've been considering if I should do an early application.

people apply early so they can get the decisions well before jan
u know u can change plans for the future when u know where u are admitted and where not

the earlier group tends to have more competitive people and so stanford says that is why that it does not really matter...but I say that if stanford is your number one choice that you go for it =)

Hmm. I've been reading up and hearing from people that if you can't get in by Early (ie rejected), you probably will be rejected in Regular anyway. How valid is this?

Stanford's definitely my first choice but with that all the competitive people are going to apply Early, does it mean that my application will pale in comparison (and get rejected) compared to the regular pool? Thanks!

@eftalia
come on now
admissions are a scary affair but you are what you are
dont look at others
you have qualities unique only in you which many can only dream of
everyone is a gem

In many of the Stanford informational sessions, they say that if you get rejected early you are most likely get rejected regular. Stanford rarely defers any students, and the one friend of mine that got defferred ended up getting rejected. What Stanford Adcoms says about applying early is that if you feel you did well junior year and that your senior year does not need to be addressed then applying early could work to your advantage.

That being said, you probably are a super candidate if Stanford is your first choice, so do not be afraid of applying early. Just believe in yourself and go for it!!
