As in previous years, the fact that you can see the housing link does not mean you got in. As maryversity posted, nothing is official until you get an e-mail that says you can check your decision and see what it says online.

Well, does any one know of any one who got the housing link and didn’t get in?

I like the old way better when you would get either the little letter or big envelope in the mail. I think there was less anxiety with the day long, day after day, looking for portal updates/emails.

What if the link isn’t there for you? Also, if i applied on November 1st, am I considered for the priority deadline?

So tired of waiting. Wish I was like my son: he says, Mom, don’t worry, we will hear from UMD when it’s time to hear. I can’t wait… Wish they released the decisions today!

What time of day did the emails to check your application page come out in past years?

think I read 5:00pm

@awaitingdad: I agree! There was still anxiety, but it was limited to one moment in the day when you checked the mailbox.

@maryversity: Thanks for the heads-up about the housing link. I hope its appearance today means decisions will be available tomorrow.

we were able to access the housing link- Hope that is good news!

Couldn’t stand anymore and just called the admissions office. Asked about the date and was told decisions will be released soon but she wouldn’t confirm Friday. She said sometimes this week so I’m thinking it will be before Friday, folks! I also asked about housing link already available in the portal but she said it means nothing. That’s all. Hang in there!!!

@bjkdad - yes, there were several people in the past that had the link but were not accepted, and several people that did not get the link but were accepted. Thus my caution not to read any meaning into it…it is simply a glitch (although obviously some people that had the link were indeed accepted).

@bonee26 I doubt it has anything to do with Prince Frederick Hall in specific or to ACES in specific.

@awaitingdad As for little letter/big envelope, you actually do get that also and they do try to time the mailing as best they can so you receive it within a day or so of getting the email. Waiting for the arrival of the mailman is not that different than awaiting notification of an email. It is more just the existence of college confidential’s ability to put everyone in touch with each other to express the angst that heightens the anticipation/stress.

Best of luck to everyone…I really hope that this means you will hear tomorrow. Remember, no guarantees…

Rumor is it’s today. My friend heard back last year on the 29th though

I do think that seeing the housing link is a sign…my first daughter was a definite acceptance and she
had the link, my second daughter is probably not getting in ( based on scores and low gpa) and she does not have the link…

post hoc, ergo propter hoc. breathe in, breathe out.

Also: “Wait and hope!” (Last words from the “Count Monte Cristo”).

New poster, longtime CC reader! Just received this email from my son’s high school College and Career Center:

“I just heard from UMD College Park that they will release decisions today @ 5:00 p.m. online. Letters will be mailed starting tomorrow.”

This is completely legit. Good luck, everyone!

Yes, it is coming out at 4.45pm today. Just received a call from the Admissions Counselor that my D got in

thanks maryversity

Hmm…it may very well come out today. Hopefully it’ll come either today or tomorrow.

Where on the portal will we find the result? (is it from a link included in an email, or can we find out before we receive the email/from the application website?)
