Priority Number and Honors Dorms

My son applied EA, was accepted and invited to honors, which he also accepted. He has a priority number of 4001, but as I understand it, honors students are automatically assigned to Landis, or if filled, Gilchrist.

Am I correct? Just want to confirm now if a housing surprise is possible.

Technically there is no guarantee that honors students will be placed in landis (obviously this hall is only for honors students) or gilchrist (honors overflow). Howeverrrrr, when I went to the honors meeting at preview, the presenter said there is a 99.99999999% chance that an honors student will be in one of those two dorms even with a priority number of 7000.

So in theory, there could be a “surprise,” but that is incredibly unlikely.

Yes, a Housing surprise is possible. You aren’t automatically given Landis/Gilchrist as an Honors student.

With a number of 4001 you should be fine, though.

Thanks, good to know.

There is a chance that Landis or Gilchrist will not be the hall assigned. A friend of mine was placed in Deviney Hall and he was an honors student (Luckily for your son, Deviney Hall will be demolished and a new one is opening in the fall).
