Can anybody tell me what Priority Transfer means? A good friend of mine received a letter from Cornell saying that she is was on the priority transfer list. Are the chances better than regular transfer applicants? What are the odds?

Thanks for any information.

Bump. Anybody knows about priority transfers at Cornell?

I’m really not familiar with this option. I’ve heard of it, but I’m not 100% sure of how it works.

I think Priority Transfer is given only to Hotel applicants. I don’t think admission is guaranteed but I would assume that if you’re a competitive applicant to begin with, your application would placed ahead of the others and you have a better chance of being accepted.

My friend was granted priority transfer to the college of Human Ecology. Thanks for your reply dewdrop.

Anybody else familiar with it?

I believe priority transfer is just the new name for guaranteed transfer. If I remember correctly, a HumEc rep said the name change was to take out the “guarantee” part, since you still have to maintain a certain GPA.

Thanks DarkStar, that’s what I tought. I won’t put it to her in such up-beat terms of course, I need to keep her on her toes! hehe!

That would make sense and it’s a good idea. The “guaranteed” transfer thing really throws people off when they find out what it entails.
