priority waitlist

I looked at the previous years forums and it seems like they call you. Not sure though.

Honestly this is all so nerve racking...

Who here has been put on the PWL?

I have, well i applied for PWL not sure is it automatic? or do only certain waitlistees get this option?

foosho: I believe only certain waitlistees get this option-- or at least that is the way their letter made it sound. What school/schools did you apply for?

berkeley, ucla, ucsd, uci, nyu, cornell, BU, harvard, and Cmu. I got all of them except the ivy's and cmu, which i'm waitlisted in. I got in a few other places but they were back ups. CMU was sorta of my first choice too, i thought i'd get in; my stats were above the usual CMU applicant so yeeah.
u?

ahh i meant schools in CMU...
but what a great list!

BU, U of Rochester, Lehigh, U Maryland...etc... with scholarships but got rejected from my ivy, but i didn't expect to get it. :D i think i aimed too low (but you never know!)because i basically got into all my schools except the ivy, which was without a doubt a joke --and and cmu. :P

do they take waitlistees depending on the major?
i just decided last night i really want to go to carnegie mellon now (i already deposited at northeastern university in boston) but i wonder if I should even bother pursuing the waitlist this late in the game...
-im an architecture major

in any case, it's too late to be put on priority waitlist for CMU; the deadline was long ago. don't put too much faith in the regular waitlist; getting off regular waitlist is hard for any college especially if they have a priority waitlist

yes yes what wezzles said...and has anyone called the office and asked how many have accepted a spot on the PWL? or any statistics on the waitinglist this year?

I'm guessing there are gonna be a lot of available spots because I know quite of few people that were accepted into CMU at my school who aren't going, around 7ish. Just wondering how its at, at your school.

you also need to keep in mind there need to be ALOT of spots to open before waitlist people are accepted. Last year around 6000 were accepted last year and about 1000 enrolled, yet only 56 people got in off waitlist.

Admissions said last year they overenrolled and took fewer off the waiting list than normal. They planned accept fewer students this year. I believe in years prior they usually took around 125 off the WL.

When I called (My deposit got postmarked one day late -- go me -.-) they asked me which school I was in. MCS, they told me it'd be fine. The more "popular" schools (what the phone person told me, I'm guessing SCS and IS) apparently are already full to capacity, they're not taking anyone past deadline, so I don't imagine they'll take anyone off waitlist for those.

tell me if anyone hears anything

im nervous.

Anyone get a caaaaaaaaall yet?

nooooope i haven't!
