<p>I'm in 8th grade and next year i will be going to a public school for the first time. I really dont know what to expect...I have been in private school my whole life! I'm also intimidated because my school is much smaller than the H.S. (200 to 2400). Could someone give me some insight or past experiences on this?</p>

<p>It might help to tell us what kind of high school your going into...ex. urban, downtown, highly rated, just average, etc...</p>
<p>Geez it is so variable. In a big public HS you may be in w/ students of greater diversity......economically, educationally, racially, academically. Usually there are smaller programs such as IB or AP stuff that self selects, make up smaller groupings. Teachers may be less accessible. Sports may be more difficult to get into if that is a concern. You may be very happy and well challenged. I am sure there was consideration about this......moving into HS is a big deal. You will be afraid of the unknown and that is expected.</p>
<p>I like my public HS much more than the old private school.</p>
