Transferring Schools, How To Adjust?

Well, my parents just laid the news on me. I'm a sophmore in a very small, suburban Catholic school, but next year I'm going to be going to a very large public school in a different town, this one has a good rep. though. I've never been to public school. Will it be really hard for me to adjust? And how about making friends, I mean I am like butting in in the middle of their school year... kind of being paranoid right now, sorry. ^^

At least the new school has a lot of clubs I'm interested in. Who knows, maybe it will do me some good...

Whoops I meant butting in in the middle of their high school career. Starting fresh as a junior. There will be other transfers too right?

One of the great things about public schools, is that there are so many people there that you are bound to find a group that you fit in with. Since you're planning on joining some clubs, it'll be a bit easier finding people interested in the same things as you.

It is hard switching schools and entering a school where many of the students have known each other for years (I just switched from a large public school, to a small private school where many of the students have known each other since elementary) Since your new school is a public school, the chances of you being the only "new kid" is pretty low.

It might seem a little strange going into a public school. For one thing, you'll notice more extremes in fashion than you will at a private school (I'm assuming your private school had a relatively strict dress code). Also there is a huge range in the type of people you'll meet (this is just in my experience; the kids I met at my public school came from a more diverse background than the kids at my private school).

Good luck!

Yes! Do clubs!

A friend of mine just transferred in (her senior year! horrible...) and she's already made a few friends in Debate Club.
