Private Transfer from cc?.. but recieved an F....

<p>I plan on attempting to transfer to some prestigious school.. as well as other that are not as prestigious..</p>

<p>I got a a CC right now.. I took four classes, This is my 1st semester So I'm what they call a second semester freshman.. (the reactions in school are interesting as if I an alien or something.. lol) any way I Received An A,B+,B and this damn F.</p>

<p>Will this hurt my chances of transferring to the school I'd like?... Some of these schools require a GPA of 3.8 + .. and I'm not worried about the GPA.. its just the F ... I didn't expect it at all..and didn't want an F on my transcript and receive one in my very first semester. its a bit of a bummer.. lol.. but I don't understand how I received and F..</p>

<p>All my other grades are good... and this was a cluster soo everyone in one class are in all the others.. and all the classes are in the same room all the time everyday and same time..everything. that should say something right?. so how bad is this F? does it deter horribly?</p>

<p>When you say you didn’t expect it…what were your grades in this class prior to the Final exam/project? F’s usually don’t come as a complete surprise. If you honestly were doing great in this class prior to then, do you think there is an error? If so, meet with or email your professor asap to discuss this. If it is correct, you need to figure out what went wrong. </p>

<p>Assuming the grade stands, your GPA has taken a significant hit. Right now you don’t have a 3.0 much less a 3.8 to get into your reach schools. Your best course of action (to minimize the damage) at this point is to investigate your CC’s grade forgiveness policy and retake the class. You should be able to retake that class and have your new grade replace the F for GPA purposes. The original grade will likely still appear on your transcript, it just won’t count towards your GPA.</p>
