Private ----> UC

How hard is it to transfer from a private to a UC?

I am interested in transferring from a private school with the quarter system to UCLA or UCB. I have been told that is easier from community college, but I was wondering how hard it was for privates.

Thanks

hmmmmm10char

|-------------------| that hard

that didn't help. i was wondering if anyone did it or knew someone who did.

im asking a genuine question, don't reply if you're not going to be respectful.

It's hard to say. The UC's are obligated to help CC students first and foremost, because most CCer's pay state taxes. If you have the grades and the reasons, I am sure it won't be that difficult. I'd check some of the UC threads that you can find and sift through.

If you post some more info like stats,where you go now, why you want to transfer, where you want to transfer; people can answer your question better.

^^thank you.

I can tell you that the son of a friend of mine transferred from an oos private to a UC (not UCB/UCLA). He was a California resident. He found that a number of his fellow transfers had come from oos schools. This was a few years ago, but I'm not aware that anything would have changed.

If you are not a California resident, probably much more difficult. Never impossible, though.

i am a california resident, going to a private univ in california.

Go for it.

Maybe try emailing or PM to CardinalFocused. Despite the name, he ended up at Cal or UCLA, I forget which. I think he was cc, but he knows a lot about the transfer process to a UC and may have specific info for you. There may well be other knowledgeable posters, but he's the one I remember. He was always coming around offering to help others.
