Program/Employment Problem

I am not sure if this is classified as summer program, more like summer employment, to be honest, but here it goes. This summer I was planning to work as a summer camp counselor at my local YMCA, I had the paper work filled out and everything. But just yesterday, the head of the camp called me and said that she has too many counselors and doesn’t need me for this summer. It’s May. I am a 16 year old. I don’t own a car/drive. My options are very limited. So far, I have been looking into local opportunities, but like most hs students, I don’t want to work year round. I am trying to call universities to see if they would be willing to take me as a janitor, but haven’t had much luck because it is Sunday and not many places are open.

I am really desperate.
Any suggestions or advice would be much appreciated

Too bad about the Y job. I’m not sure why you think universities are in need of summer janitors. Maybe they are in need of grounds keeping staff. If you live near universities, presumably you live near shops and restaurants and I would suggest you keep trying.
Edited to add that the way you apply to jobs at universities is typically through the online system that you can access from the university’s website. You don’t need to call.

Yup, I will. I was just looking to see if anyone on here had any ideas.
