Programs IN NYC

I know its kind of late, but i heard about all these programs late and stuff..is there any school in NYC thats still open? i just checked columbia and NYU and i see that the deadlines were last month or just ended...so does anyone know of anything?

Did you try Barnard, Parsons, SVA?

If you're female, check out the list at http://www.academic.org/programs.html and call around. There are a few different programs at Barnard, New Rochelle, and Wells that might still be open.

Edit: Whoops, sorry, I was thinking of all of New York and not just the City. Well, try Barnard! :)

sorry guys im a male =/. but yeah NYC only because its where i live and i might do volunteerring/job over the summer so i need something i can commute to easily. Um anyone know of anything else? also, if the college your doing the program in is not one of the "better" schools, would colleges care when u apply and they see that??

Columbia's summer program for high school students is still open. According to the website, "The residential option for Session II in New York is closed. Non-residential applications are still being accepted to courses that are not yet closed."

Hope this will help :)

They wouldn't care.... It is just like taking classes at a local community college, nothing prestigious but colleges may look at that as taking initiative. The truth is, it is a double edged sword.. Say you go to Harvard SSP. Thats great, but, those programs are just pay your way. anyone who cares enough about what Ivy league school they attend for summer session so as to make a good enough impression, is able to get into one of those programs. Prestige of the school you go to isn't important and wont have any negative or positive (for the most part) in the long run.

My favorite thing I have heard is... Taking a course you did really well on in high school at a program like Harvard SSP so you get a good grade with having to do minimal work and it will give you an upper hand at college admissions. Just pick a course you would enjoy and something that you couldn't do at your school. Because what is the point of spending some 10grand on one of those programs just to take Bio. (I am not accusing of this or saying that is your intentions. I just want to give my little anecdote-- I have been up all night for the past 2 days studying for finals and have only gotten 4 hours of sleep XD)

well thanks guys and GiantRed that really helps, and yes i was not planning to pay, because anyone can pay to get into one of the programs...and i dont see the app or the deadline in Colubmia, I am living in New York City only like an hour train ride from columbia, can u link me to the app?

The link of Secondary School Program is
http://www.ce.columbia.edu/hs/

The page which shows opening courses is http://www.ce.columbia.edu/hs/courses.cfm?PID=4&Content=JS

According to the website, only 2 courses are closed in session 2. Applications are still being accepted on a space-available basis.

For students who are interested in the summer session, Completed applications should be received by the Office of Admissions at least two weeks before the beginning of the session you plan to attend. Since some courses start in July 2, you can still apply before June 18. :)
