btw, is anyone taking the Queens College Summer Science Program?

I'm taking an art history intensive at the MET thats free but the deadline passed.

union college has one called summer science workshop. there are plenty, just do internet searches.

Would going to only free summer program affect me from going to top colleges/universities??? I doubt it but I don't know for sure.

Have you tried a google search for free summer programs for high school students? There are a lot out there.

Summer programs MAY give you a small boost in college admissions because it shows you have an interest in something and are not sitting around all summer playing video games and hanging out at the mall. But so would summer classes, volunteer work or a job.

The fact that a program is free doesn't matter at all.

For those of you in New York:
Has anyone heard of/done S-PREP run by Columbia?
http://cpmcnet.columbia.edu/dept/ps/minority/minorityaffairs/prep.html
I'm thinking of doing it next year (it's free) but I don't know if I should. I'll be in 11th grade and it might be too much work, so I wanted to know how much work you get from it and whether you have to go both in the morning and afternoon or you just get to choose 1... thanks!

I would be in the 11th grade too.... Is it mandatory to take a Math class? I'm taking Math B 2/3 next year -__-'' embarassing.

Sounds so cool! I think you should take it unless you're doing something on Saturdays ?? Let me know if you're participating ^_~ Is it just manority or economic status? I don't know if I can qualify for it.

Is it too late to apply, apparently there's a 2006 class already but it says July 15 is the deadline? Am I interpreting it wrong?

I'm not really sure what's mandatory because they didn't really respond to all the questions in the e-mail I sent them. You do have to be a minority or disadvantaged. I'm hispanic but not disadvantaged, so I qualify. The class of 2006 is the class that's graduating. July 15 is the deadline. I don't think you need to take a math class, though. I'd like to take calc bc if they offer it, though. My school doesn't let you take calc in 11th grade so I'm stuch taking AP Stat.

it sounds like fun. the thing is, though, if there's a lot of homework, it may not be the best idea...

so i'm trying to find out about that. let me know if you find anything out about it. thanks!

the Young Scholars Program is free (at least in Florida).

Most of the prestigious programs like RSI and MOSP are free as well, but it's pretty difficult to get in.
