<p>Hey,</p>

<p>I am a junior in high school and I'm interested in applying to 8year programs at brown, northwestern, rice, and caltech.</p>

<p>this summer, should i do this volunteer abroad program in medicine for two weeks? i really do want to go but it will cost my family a lot and so i only want to do it if it will be a significant boost on my college apps.</p>

<p>other than this program, i already plan on volunteering at my local hospital all summer long.</p>

<p>Programs that cost a lot of money don't tend to boost college applications as colleges know that anyone who can come up with the money can do them.</p>

<p>The hospital volunteering program will probably have a more positive impact.</p>
