I'm interested in seeing what different schools have for freshman dorms. Because we're the "freshies" (that is the stupidest derogatory name I have ever heard and anybody who says it seriously looks like a dumbass) on campus, we normally get the worst housing, and that's what I've heard at a lot of schools. So describe the dorm, and if you can, post a link to pictures or videos of the dormitories. This might be a bad idea for a thread, but whatever, I'm mad bored right now, so anything goes.

I don’t say freshies. I say newbs. :D

And not true at my school about the freshmen getting stuck sucky dorms. And I’m to lazy to find links so someone else from UT Austin can do it.

Freshman at my school seem to get spread out through the campus fairly evenly. There are three all-freshman dorms but they’re certainly not the worst by any means, probably your average dorm. The really nice ones are reserved for upperclassmen but there aren’t really bad ones.

My school just build a brand new dorm for the incoming class this fall. Overall I think all the freshman dorms are really nice, besides a few of the older buildings.

Maye it’s just at Howard we get stuck with the ****ty dorms… I guess because most HBCU’s are severely underfunded, the freshman dorms get left out of the budget. I know ours are kind of run down. Alumni refer lovingly to them as “projects”.

^OMG I did a summer program at Howard last summer anddd let meee tell you…My dorm was a hot ragged mess. The program was three weeks long and I stayed in Cook Hall across from the school of business. Let me just say this the air conditioning broke on the first day and even after FOUR requests to have it fixed nothing happened. I love Howard though and it was a top choice on my list. Although the hbcus don’t have the nicest campuses, what they lack in appearance is made up by what you learn in the classroom. Suffice to say I got used to the heat lol after the first week.

These are the housing villages at my school. All of them except for Beaujolais and Tuscany are strictly for freshmen…a few upperclassmen live in Sauvignon as well.

I lived in Cabernet and loved it.

Tuscany is opening this fall, which is why the only pictures are digital renderings. I’m lucky enough to get to live there in the fall I cannot wait!

And yes, all the villages and/or buildings are named after types of wine.

We have a nice mix of different options, but we’ve had a lot of issues with not enough space for everyone wishing to live on campus. Some of the freshman dorms are dumps, but we have two very nice dorm buildings that are 9 and 11 years old, with another that should be built very soon.

I have lived in the 9 year old building since my freshman year. It has basically everything we could need. It has both single suite apartments and suites for 2-4 people.
