Prom Dress Dilemma

Okay, so I brought a dress a couple months ago.. it's one of those princess/cinderella type dresses.. it's light pink.. n like the top has sequins.. it's strapless n the bottom's really poofy.. when I bought it, I loved it.. I thought it was the prettiest dress ever.. I seriously felt like a princess in it.. well my friends at another school just had their prom, and I was looking at the pictures, and everybody's wearing like.. noncinderella type dresses.. and I've been talking to people at my school, and they're all wearing noncinderella type dresses.. and now I'm thinking I want another dress.. is mine old fashioned or something?? how come nobody else has similar type dresses? I always thought people wore cinderella type dresses.. and now they don't! ahh.. what should I do?? I don't want to appear old fashioned.. sigh.. I live in a hicktown so nobody hear knows anything about what's in right now.. so I'd like to hear other people's opinions on this dress matter..

If you can wear the dress and still feel like a princess in it, I'd say, don't worry. They're very elegant, especially in light pink.

If you like the dress.. wear it. You should just not worry about other people are wearing.. Are you scared that you'll be 'different' from the crowd? Because.. that's just... strange.

In my prom, half the girls wore those cinderellary dresses and half wore slinky dresses. (I wore a slinky yellow dress..very pretty hehehe)
And cinderellarey dresses are pretty. (i'm imagining the one hilary duff wore in 'a cinderella story')

If you only base your decisions on what other people think, get a new dress. Then you won't feel all panicky.

when I bought my dress I wanted to look different and stand out.. now I'm not so sure; I don't want to stand out too much.. but nobody has anything like mine! well haha I guess I should be happy.. I just don't want to look old fashioned.. but other than that, I want to stand out.. in a good way..

Unless your school is very small, you couldn't have asked everyone in the school. I thought my dress would look slutty/skanky because the people I asked said they bought elegant dresses,etc.. and I felt a little uneasy but when i went, it was all good. i got heaps of compliments and so many people wore so many differnt types of dresses so mine didn't look too rad

so don't worry! you'll look beautiful

I had my prom a few weeks ago, and I wore a Cinderella type dress. I loved it because it made me feel like a princess. There were girls in all different types of dresses at my prom, and, in my opinion everyone looked beautiful. I think if you love your dress you should wear it because it makes you feel special, not because you think it will fit in with what everyone else is wearing.

Cinderella-type dress don't have the slimming effect, but the slinky dress do. That's one of the reasons why it's not so popular now. You'll be fine with it though, I think. How poofy is it?

my prom dress was cinderella-esque. It's actually a '50s ball gown (got it at a '20-'80s vintage shop). I was worried since it seemed most people has slinky dresses or straighter dresses or something - but I had fallen in absolute love with this dress. It was a good thing - my boyfriend adored it, and a bunch of people liked it too since it was a bit different - but there were still people who had cinderella-eque dresses there.

I debated between a gorgeous strapless cinderella, light blue, with sequins and crystals at the top, and a straight, black, strapless with a long slit up the left side. The cinderella was beautiful and I knew no one else would have one like it. I ended up choosing the black one because I had to get a dress to match this necklace I wanted more than anything. It was huge and dripping with crystals. yum. :)

But I would keep the dress that you have, lucyS. It sounds beautiful and it doesn't matter what other people are wearing. If it makes you feel beautiful, then wear it. The only reason i got the slinkier dress was for the necklace. Otherwise, the cinderella one was absolutely perfect. I would definitely keep the one you have. Have fun at your prom!
