Proof of roommate theft

My roommate had been taking clothes from me and I had found out the week I got back from spring break and I immediately made a report. In retaliation she started to lie to our ra about me break the rules, I proved them to be lies and told them how shes stolen from other people in the dorm and has vandalized the dorm. Still nothing happened, I even told them how I was afraid of coming out with this info because of how she attacked a girl on campus but lied to the police about it and now the girl is banned from campus. I have pictures of her wearing my clothes and text messages of me telling her to return them and her ignoring it. I proceeded to talk to the hall director and in another act of retaliation she lied to her mom about me and my boyfriend being in the room and harassing her, while we were on the opposite side of campus. She threatened to sue the school and her mom called my parents and harassed them on the phone. Again I had evidence but nothing has happened other than a no contact form. She was required to move out and never post about me publicly under her name, but she broke both of those rules and nothing has happened. I’ve now moved out and she still has my stuff she stole and the residence hall director has done nothing to help me get them back. Who else can I talk to so I can try and get my things?

Perhaps make a complaint about the items to campus police. But once you have filed your report listing the items that she stole, you need to move on. Not every stolen item is returned to the rightful owner.

I think the next logical step is to gather all the evidence you have and report her to the local police. Not the campus police but the actual local law enforcement. She seems somewhat violent as does her family. Hire a lawyer and tell her you will take her to court over the matter. Hopefully it will scare her enough to stop what she is doing. In the meantime, keep gathering evidence but steer clear of her because you don’t want to start another problem. You could go above the resident hall director to the entire head of the residential life office for the entire campus or keep searching to see who the next higher up is and contact them, visit their office, and ask for an appointment to discuss your concerns. Remain calm and polite. Or maybe ask the campus police if they can escort you into her new room so you can gather your items. I would try talking to the head of the entire housing and keep talking to them until you get your items back even if it means calling/email daily. Be persistent. Good luck. Hope this helps. I am not entirely sure what to do in this situation

Over a college student’s presumably previously-worn clothes?

Is there a Dean of Student housing that you can tell about this?

Email the Dean of Housing.
