Proof of U.S. Citizenship... Does this mean my FAFSA won't get processed?

Situation: Recently naturalized... social security does not reflect changes

Dilemma:

Proof of Social Security # or U.S. Citizenship: The federal government is unable to match your
record to the database of the Social Security Administration. The number listed for you could not be
matched, or you did not provide them with your last name and/or date of birth. Also, the date of birth
provided by you was inconsistent with the SSA records. You must clear up this discrepancy before
we can proceed with your application.
Documents Required:
1) Student Social Security Number Problem – A copy of your social security card.
2) Student Citizenship and Date of Birth Problem – A copy of your U.S. Birth Certificate, U.S.
Passport, or U.S. Naturalization Certificate.
3) If a name change occurred – A copy of the marriage certificate or a copy of the court
document

So far, no schools have processed my FAFSA even though I got my SAR on the 2nd of January. Does this mean my FAFSA won't get processed until I send something to the gov. or the social security administration?

I already sent the schools a copy of my passport.

Pick up the telephone and call each of your schools. Ask them what the status of your paperwork is, and whether they need further documentation from you. If so, send them copies of the documents they need.

Then, telephone the closest office for the Soc.Sec. Administration. If necessary, pay a visit with your updated documents in hand so that they can straighten out your file.

And, if you haven't done so yet, please register to vote so that you can pressure your elected representatives to fund the Soc.Sec. Administration so this kind of dumb stuff doesn't keep happening. That the feds can't operate with the speed and efficiency of say Wikipedia is really annoying, isn't it!

it will get processed but you college bill won't reflect those grants until you provide your college the paperwork. bring either the certificate naturalization or citizenship which ever one you have or the passport if you have it to the college fin aid office. had that same problem that's exactly what i did. make sure you do go to your local ss office before you file the next FAFSA, dont need to do it this time
