Does anyone have the official air force academy direct descendents criteria for a cadet to have the honor of the gold prop & wings? My husband’s great uncle who my son is named after was a hero in the army air corps. Does it count?

Not 100% certain, but I think it must be direct bloodline, i.e. father/mother; gfather/gmother;ggfather/ggmother; etc

docfranc, Does the designation have to come from the same branch of service?

I think so--grandfathered back to the old Army Air Corps. Let me check my sources on that one, though.

I just got back from the orientation (which was great, by the way), and one of the cadets that escorted me around had gold prop and wings because his brother was a graduate. I think the criteria has changed with time. When my dad went, I think the only ones to wear gold prop and wings were the cadets whose fathers had been in the Army Air Corps and had physically passed on the prop and wings.

Surfnkid is correct... It used to be only decendents of Army Air Corps flyers. Now, it's direct decendents of anyone who's either AAC or an Academy grad, or (still checking on the other "" ors")...
