Pros/Cons of Dykstra Hall

There's one for Hedrick, might as well start one for Dykstra.

yea i would like to know too. just got my housing and im in a double with benedict in dykstra. ive heard it was one of the more social dorms but its also one of the oldest.

^ that's my roommate.

I heard Dykstra doesn't have private changing area so I guess I'll just have to live with it. Luckily they have shower stalls and not shower curtains haha.

dykstra:

social

close to de neve dining hall and crossroads cafe

close to south campus and bruinwalk

close to frat houses

half first years, half returners

Don't worry about the changing area. I usually just grab a bathrobe and walk to my room to change. It's easier than carrying all my clothes with me. I heard that Dykstra next year is going to be first years only floors 2-4, and mixed the others. Can anybody confirm that?

D-luv! :)

Dykstra is closest to the rest of campus, is the most "social" (rooms face each other across the hall), and is so-called "convenient" by my friend. It also happens to be the oldest dorm, making it look less appealing to other residential halls.

Some people say that the ceilings are lower and the rooms are slightly smaller, but I'm not sure if that's true.

I have a question though. Is it likely at all for a freshman to be rooming with an upperclassman?

"Is it likely at all for a freshman to be rooming with an upperclassman?"

possible but more likely youll be partnered up with another freshman if you requested random roommate.
