Prospective NTU/NUS Applicants...

I forgot to include my Extra Curriculars:
Here they are:

  1. Have been serving the Sathya Sai Community since 8th grade (standard)–Through this I have also attended the World Youth Conference which was held in Puttaparthi 2 years back
  2. Played clarinet for 2 years (9th and 10th)
  3. More than 20 hours of community service
  4. Participated in World Scholar’s Cup (Thailand vs Taiwan Finals) Our team came 2nd place and I came 3rd in the Essay Competition
  5. Played in Varsity Badminton (11th grade) Got the Most Improved Title
  6. Have been playing keyboard since 5th grade
    There’s more…I’ll include it once I remember!
    And I have taken 5 AP Subjects: AP Physics. AP Chemistry, AP Calculus AB, AP English, AP Spanish Language

And, yes, definitely competition differs from course to course…For example, its much more difficult to get into NUS Law than NUS Engineering!

do you have to submit all the supporting documents by the application deadline? Do they have to receive them by that date?

When i talked to them last, they said the supporting documents could arrive (at latest) 2 weeks after the deadline of the application…But, I’m guessing, it would be alright if you just send them a mail saying you are sending your supporting document late due to so and so reason.

^ I second that. A note always suffices.

yeap! finally applied! now it’s just waiting!!!

@DaretoDream
Awesome! What course have u applied for? Stats??

NTU is not like NUS regarding scholarships right? You need to apply separately for NTU whereas you are automatically considered for scholarships in NUS.

Yes,you’re right

you guys applying to the US as well??? when do students get to know the app outcome?? I need a garantee from them before i make any deposits to the US university…

US university outcomes come way before the outcomes for Singapore unis.

Yeah. NUS clearly state that results can be expected from May till July and for NTU it depends upon where you come from and which category you are applying under.

did any of you apply for financial aid in nus? or are you applying after you get in?

I will probably apply after/if I get in.

same…where else have you applied?

I applied to a zillion colleges in US. Cos of my need I have been turned down almost everywhere. I have started looking elsewhere now.

I dont understand the NUS process…theres no option asking about financial aid on the application form??

hmmmm…this year is a bad year for us applicants! have u applied anywhere other than s’pore??

@smartchap
On the application, it doesn’t talk about financial aid…Financial aid and scholarships are on a different page altogether. This might help: http://www.nus.edu.sg/financialaid

oh…ok…

we all know that for the US unis,if you don’t ask for fin.aid,it increases your chances by a large margin.Could you say the same for Singapore?

apparently it doesn’t according to annamalai (refer to previous posts)… he said that the departments itself are different…so they don’t look at your financial need when they process your application!
