I want to major in psychology, and start taking pre med classes my second semester. How hard is it to declare psychology as your major? Someone told me I should have a "back up" major in case I dont get in.. but the website says that as long as you meet the pre reqs and have a 3.2 + GPA you are guaranteed admission to the major. How hard is it to a high gpa in the required classes?

Also, how do these classes look for my first semester?
Psy 1
Math 16A ( math class for med school req)
Anthropology 3AC
A seminar ( should I take a graded seminar to get an easy A and get a higher GPA?)
Some other class ( any ideas? please don't say Chem 1A, I really what to take that in the fall. I was thinking about taking an R&C class but all the "easier" ones are probably full by now, I'm going to calso in two weeks... which classes should I sign up for at Calso?)

@uc123cali I’ve never lived on my own before and I want to get used to college before starting the pre med reqs. :)

Buuuump plz… Would it be crazy to take cs10 just for fun? I heard it’s a lot of work but I’ve always been interested in cs, but idk anything about it. Or should I just take another class that fulfills one of the breadth requirements? Can anyone recommend me a class?

Uhmm, should you really be wasting time as a pre med student with seminar classes? Your overall gpa isn’t what will get you into the Psych major, I’m pretty sure it’s your gpa in the psych prerequisite classes. I don’t think an A in a seminar is going to help you with psychology…

do they care what classes you take? like can you take the easy classes while fulfilling the pre reqs. do they favor you more if you take harder classes? like taking a foreign lang class beginer and intermediate level, both fulfills the pre req, but would they favor you more if you take the more advanced level?

^ I doubt they favor people who take harder classes. How would they know which classes are easy? It’s not like they go online and read the reviews for each class you have on your transcript…
