They tell you how they calculate how you get in anyways. it’s an whollistic proccess. basically it’s like, “each item above is worth points” meet a minimum points and you’re in. if there’s too much people they’ll scrutinize even more. like lets say 2300 (400 points) EC presidency (500pts)…add up 900 points. passed minimum requirement!!! kinda like that but whollistically

1st prompt: talked about how my life shaped me to become an engineer and why I wanted to be one. 2nd prompt was about how volunteering changed my life.

To be honest, for UCs specifically, I don’t think they weigh SAT scores as heavily as privates do. Mine was below average and I got in. For UCs, GPA is a major factor in admission decision. If you have an extraordinarily high GPA + atleast a “subdecent SAT score” + show that you’re active, then you’re pretty much in.

To see exactly where your stats would compare at the admitted class at each of the nine UCs, go here:

[University of California: StatFinder](http://statfinder.ucop.edu/statfinder/default.aspx)

Then go through the prompts… pick the first prompt choice for the first 7-8 pages, then pick

  • UCLA, then pick
  • COMPLEX TABLE for the report format, then pick
    1. High School GPA weighted-Capped and 2) Total SAT Reasoning Score as the two metrics to use in the report.

You can then see the % who were admitted within your SAT and GPA ranges for UCLA.

Oh wow guys! This helps so much you don’t even know! thanks!!! =]]

@Noxfinitie: that’s not how the hollistic process works, UCSD does the point system. IIRC, two people on the admissions committee rate your entire application on a scale of 1-7 based on how much you deserve to be admitted. If both of the reviewers give you anything higher than a 4, you are in. If both of them give you a 4, your application will be reviewed two more times. Anything lower than a 4 leads to a rejection.

GPA: 3.86
Awful SAT and SAT II’s
Rank: 10/210

ECs: Abercrombie model, Key Club Events Coordinator, Interact/Rotarect Vice-President, ASB Senior Class Rep/Assemblies Chairperson, Jazz, Hip-Hop, Ballet studio trained dancer, all-star cheer, Environmental Club President, US Senator intern, team captain of the largest team of teenage walkers for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, American Foundation for Suicide Prevention Walk Committee, 2009 Miss _________, ‘Green’ reality TV show contestant, Prom and Winter Formal Court 2009 and 2010, and local science center volunteer.

Good luck!

And as far as classes go, there are no AP courses at my school so I enrolled at the local CC as well

dtn 521… how do you know this?

I read about the process either in the LA Times, Dailybruin, or on some UCLA website. I can’t find it on google right now.
