Prospective Transfer Fall 2015

Hi everyone I’m planning on applying to transfer to Scripps College for the Fall 2015 and I am a bit worried that I won’t
get accepted and have my financial aid requirements met. I’ve also applied to Smith, Barnard, and Bryn Mawr (they have moved my application to the coming fall semester so that they can meet me financially).

Okay I’m a sophomore this year and the first semester of my freshman year I was raped. I kept it to myself for the whole school year and I dropped from a 3.8 gpa (from the elf summer program) to a 2.5 first semester. I had thought I could bring back my gpa second semester but I couldn’t focus, I was too nervous to go to class and I was anxious all the time. I finished my first year of college with a 2.52 overall. I lost my funding for the semester of fall 2014 and had to use my mothers GIBILL benefits to pay for that semester. I did better than my first year this semester with all Bs but I was rejected from two schools for spring transfer. (Mount Holyoke, Wellesley)
I don’t want to go back to that university for the spring and am currently trying to figure out a way to tell my parents that I want to volunteer spring semester with RAINN, while studying to take CLEP exams to save time if I am accepted, also I plan on joining ROTC to help me finish school and have a secure job after college to pay back my student loans. I love my parents and have a great amount of respect for them, but when it comes to me expressing what I want to do for myself to help me, they always find a way to make my plans sound selfish. They want me to take out a loan for next semester and continue at the university I’m enrolled in, they already know what happened to me at school I told them over the summer when I had a mental break down and tried to commit suicide. I don’t know what to do. What should I tell them about taking a semester off, I love school but I can’t function properly at my current university.

EOF* instead of elf sorry

Is there any community college close by that you can attend instead of this university? Many community colleges have open admission so you could still apply for this spring. Your old GPA won’t transfer over, but your classes will so you can have a fresh start in regards to your GPA. It will also be cheaper for your parents to pay for as the local community colleges only cost around $1000-$1500.

Once you get your GPA up, then maybe you can transfer your spring of your junior year.

Terribly sorry about what happened to you and all of the distress it has caused.
