Seconded! I’m hosting one of you, but feel free to ask here/PM me questions if you have 'em.

If it’s helpful, I’m an American Studies major, Education minor planning on doing the Smithsonian program, going abroad to Geneva, getting my teaching license and student teaching on-campus. I’m also involved in musical theatre and Quidditch.

Enjoy Open Campus! I had the worst host ever but still managed to find other people in her house to cling onto and hang out with, so make sure that you don’t base all Smithies off of your interaction with your host.

Oh t_c, you’re full of good ideas.
I’m a Math major hopefully going to Turkey, interested in Middle East Studies.

Ah! I’m leaving tomorrow. I’m going to Philadelphia and some family and I are then driving up to Smith. A few questions: What time should we get to Smith on Wednesday? Where do we go? And I know it says pack lightly, but should I pack two different bags? Like a bigger one for Philadelphia and a smaller on for Smith? Or is one roll-on bag too big?

I have no basis on which to comment other than being a mom of a Smithie, but I’ll put in my two cents anyway. Bring comfortable clothes, clothes that are “you” that take into account the variability of the spring season. Keep it simple, if you can. I don’t know about the appropriate time of your arrival, but I think you can bank on large signs on campus that will tell you where registration is. If you’re pressed for time to get any additional answers from this CC forum, just call the admission office.

My daughter, a Gold Key tour guide, will also be hosting a student this weekend!

Safe trip to you! Enjoy the weekend!

Arrival is actually Thursday, with registration beginning at 10am and continuing until 4:30 pm. You should come to the indoor track and tennis facilty for this. If you are staying overnight, you will meet your host at 5:45pm.

The weather is supposed to be very nice on Thursday, around 68 degrees. Dress accordingly. Friday should be a bit cooler, around 59. Weather changes fast around here.:D

Also, i suggest leaving room in your suitcase for a new Smith shirt or hoodie! I know they’ll be on sale for you guys

BRING A TOWEL. Not to go all hitchiker’s guide on you, but college students often only have one clean towel at a time, so be sure to bring one with you. I always appreciated when people I hosted overnight brought their own towel, sleeping bag and pillow, because I had other overnight prospie’s who did not and I had to scramble to get them situated up properly. Also, you may want to bring a thin sleeping pad (like the kind you use for camping, the thin roll up matts) as you will more than likely be sleeping on the floor of your host’s room. If you don’t bring one or don’t have room for it, that’s fine, you can survive one night, but if you do have room it’s a nice thing to remember.

Whatever size bag you bring, make sure you’re comfortable carrying it. Most Smith houses do not have elevators, and your host may live on the third or fourth floor. They should help you bring it up, of course, but do yourself (and them) a favor and bring a small overnight bag that’s light and easy to heft.

Definitely save room for a hoodie. The zip-up one I bought during my visit lasted me all four years and I still wear it today, two years (eek!) out.

I can’t go, but I’ll definitely be missing it Any chance to visit Smith is one I like to take

Hope to see some of you tomorrow @Open Campus. Mockingbird7013 and I will be attending and I hear the weather should be nice!

My dear one is on Amtrak on her way right now. Counting on you all to show her the “real” Smith. What an exciting time!

Just got back from Day one. We had a great time up there. My dd went to a couple classes and we went to some presentations and did the museum and some other tours. Great weather and a good time had by all!

Things I have done with my prospie thus far - dinner, Capen garden, Quidditch practice, a cappella jam, Faces, Herrell’s.
Things we are doing tomorrow - going to my SWG class, she is taking some tours, tea!

Having a prospie is seriously awesome. Also all of you should come to Smith, it is fantastic!

Teenage_cliche, you make me chuckle! You’ve done a lot already with your prospie and I love your enthusiasm. Have a blast!

My D has been texting updates yesterday and today, all generally very upbeat! Sounds like things are going well!
