Prove to me that Michigan is a great school/Ross Business School

I am under the impression that I am "too good for Michigan". I got a 1510/2280 on my SATs go to a top 100 public school in the country and rank in the top five percent. Can this get me into Ross/ why am I not too good for Mich?

If you think you're too good to be here, don't come here. This forum isn't made up of Michigan recruiters whose job it is to convince you that we're good enough for you. No one is going to prove anything to you. If you think Michigan is below your standards, don't bother applying.

That said, there are many, many hundreds of students here with better stats than you. If that's your justification for being too good for the school, you should think it over some more.

Nobody is too good for Michigan. (notice the period at the end of the sentence)

The fact that Michigan/ Ross are not only ranked so high but are also heavily recruited should be proof enough. And thats not taking into account the wonderful school spirit and sports that they have.

You could probably get into Ross. If not that, then the Honors program. In Honors, those are about the average stats.

I had a higher SAT score than you, plus I was in the top 1% of my class...never have I thought myself "too good" for Michigan. It's one of the top schools in the world.

I got a 1580/2380 on my SAT, was in the top 2% of my class, and it never once occurred to me that I was "too good" for Michigan, or for that matter, any school. I would have been more than proud to attend Ross - their business specialties are ranked highly, the average starting salary is close to that of Wharton's, and I've heard that the business school especially has great facilities. As a whole, Michigan offers a great undergraduate experience with the fun of a state school and the academics of a top-25 school.

However, I never found out if I got into Ross because I got into Wharton ED, and I was thankful for that too. And so I say to you, aspiring Wharton student: play nice. Learn some humility.

Well said MissBarbara.

although the OP was extremely cocky, i have to admit i like the swagger but you attending Ross should have nothing to do with whether or not you think the school is good enough for you

choosing a college is all about if you have a passion to attend that school or if you think you will be a good fit there at that school, it is my belief that you can be one of the most intelligent students on the planet, but if you do not have the passion to attend a Harvard, Yale, Princeton then you are better off attending a top 15 or top 20 school if thats what is a better fit for you

nobody has to convince you of anything.
stop being a pompous idiot. people do not have the responsibility of begging you to come to a particular school.
take care in removing your head from your ***, for i think it has been lodged irreparably.

You know your post would have had some weight, if there weren't hundreds of people at UM who had better stats than you in high school.

I personally know 10-15 kids just from my graduating class of 100 kids with better SAT scores (both 1600 and 2400 scale). I also know of many kids with better scores/stats from my freshman year at Michigan. You (as represented by your SAT scores and HS ranking) are NOTHING SPECIAL.

Honestly though dude, what the hell was the point of this thread? Trying to get over your insecurities? Need someone to stroke your ego?

Oh and a suggestion: Try not to think about the 1000s of other kids with similar/better test scores, who write better essays and do more interesting ECs.

p.s. What the **** is a top 100 public high school? Can we call the top 8 schools in whatever list you're referring to the ivy-league high schools??? ahaha

I totally know where you are coming from. Im guessing you are a junior right now and yeah you have pretty good test scores, but honestly everyone does these days. Michigan is an awesome school and you really arent going to be convinced by me or anyone on this fourm talking about the rankings. When you get closer to the middle to end of senior year you will have a complete change of heart. A ton of your friends which you thought were going ivy wont and some who you thought never had a shot in hell to go anywhere decent will go someplace amazing. Ivys are great but Michigan has more party than all the ivies if you want that. It is less stuck up and ross gets a ton of recruiters. Smarter people go to much worse schools than michigan. Its not the school its what you do at it.
I turned down a bunch of top name schools because Michigan is so well rounded. If Michigan wasnt public it would be much better stats wise. Honestly you are just a typical junior thinking they are smarter than a public football school. Give it a rest and come back to the fourm when you get your acceptance.

passion is what they look for over everything.

Someone who is "too good for Michigan" should know that the period always goes inside the quotation marks.

Why would Michigan students take the time to convince a pompous idiot like you to come to their school? Honestly, nobody wants someone like you at their school.

"why am I not too good for Mich?"
Your scores aren't uncommon and you can't write proper English sentences.
