Can provisional letters of acceptance to colleges be trusted? My daughter (who is a senior this year) received such a letter from one of our state flagship universities. According to the letter, she was selected based on her SAT scores and self-reported grades to the collegeboard. The letter stated that if she applied to the university, she would be accepted. Are these letters scams or are they for real?

Isn't that a likely letter? If it really did come from the university, then it's definitely for real.
