I hope curve are good

^ Curves are never good on psat, -2 equals 70-72

No, -2 on form W last year was a 73. Sometimes it can be even more forgiving.

yeah… its definitely not that harsh… im looking through the PSAT for 06 and it was 2 wrong = 72… are you talking about 2 wrong or 2 raw points off?

^i think that’s the same thing, isn’t it?
suppose you have a 40, and you leave 2 omitted. that’s a 38. If you get 2 wrong, thats 2*1.25=2.5. 40-2.5= 37.5, which is also 38.

Regardless, I don’t think the curves will be too bad this year…
here are compilations of recent practice booklet and test curves:

raw score, psat 2009,psat 2008, psat 2007, practice booklet 2009, practice booklet 2010
39, 80, 80, 80, 80, 80
38, 78, 77, 76, 76,77
37, 73, 73, 73, 73, 73
36, 72, 72, 71, 71, 72
35, 70, 70, 69, 69, 70
34, 68, 68, 66, 66, 68

“are you talking about 2 wrong or 2 raw points off?”

Wouldn’t it be the same, since they round .5 up?

I have it tomorrow too

Thank you for compiling those numbers schoolisfun. :'D Wow the difference between -1 and -2 is ridiculous. @_@ Do you have compilations for math or CR too?

@strawbearries: No problem And well, i’ve looked at the numbers, and it’d be a waste of time because the curves are fairly similar year to year for math and cr after 2007/2008. -1 math is generally 77/78 and -1 CR is generally 80

Okay, that’s good to know. Thank you (again). And good luck!

No problem Thanks :)

Good Luck to all of you taking the PSAT tommorow! Especially the juniors!

Schoolisfun’s data: so basically if you get 3 wrong you’re dead.

Do you think I should start doing some problems today?

On form S last year, it was
80
75
70

We get to keep the PSAT booklets after the test (right?). So, are we allowed to discuss answers afterwards? If so, we could basically make an answer key for the whole test, right?

680 on the practice psat booklet they gave us for writing. got 5 wrong. damn it allll

^Yep.

And last year’s Saturday test was -2=70…so the curve can be pretty bad.

when we talk about -2, are we talkin 2 wrong or 2 off raw score? cuz 2 off rawscore is way ridiculous.

2 wrong

3.141592653…

Two wrong and two off the Raw Score (two omits) end up as the same scaled score because the “0.5” rounds up…
