PSAT 2011 Saturday General Discussion

AHHH figure your own score out, it’s not hard!!! Also, Kayshoe, what’s your take on the flipping a switch question, error or no error?

Does anybody happen to recall what answer choice “wry disapproval” is? C?

“Wait can someone explain what the question was for “some archaeologists claim…(E)” ?”

It was a sentence completion one. I can’t remember how the original exactly went, but it was something like:

Dating back 3000 years, some Archaeologists recently found some mexican artifacts.

i really dislike college board right now…

it had to do with misplaced modifiers… i remember that because the sentence was so long and the correct answer was the last choice (making me read so much before getting to right answer)

I believe wry disapproval is C, bitter resentment was E and wistful nostalgia was B

My take on light flipping, is that there is an error there. This is really a tricky question and is probably the only one that people will be split on, personally me and another one of my smart friends (he got a 224 sophomore year I got a 209) agree that there is an error. He said that it was no parallel, I just went with my gut feeling.

well ANYwAY!!

I wish it was december. I WANT MY SCORES!

based on our current accumulation of answers…u can already get a ballpark estimate. You can calculate ur max score based on how many u missed out of the ones we posted. Because some are unposted still u cannot get an exact score. But for example I know I missed 1 reading, 0 math, and 2 writing so far. So the highest scores i could get (assuming that the unposted ones are all correct) would be a 80, 80, 75 which is a 235.

lol i actually went through 557 posts to compare my answers. too bad i forgot most of my c/r answers LOL.

just for a clarification, was the area of the triangle inside the semicircle in the 2nd math section 30? i think i saw that somewhere in this thread but i’m not sure.

What were the original questions to these CR answers? I need a quick refresher.

Silence…Arouse
-24: Without giving up value
-13: difficult to maintain privacy in our world

^And yes, the area inside the triangle was 30.

fallpsat: Ipicked the longer E one too. I do believe it is correct, remembering that between sentence 1 and 2, soulless would be repeating sentence 1, while E was a transition into sentence 2. hope this is heartening news.

Number 13 was something like ‘both authors would agree that privacy is…’

I think it was the soulless one because the sentence after, it describes how he would attempt to build a mall of community and commerce, something like that. Community was the key word. The soulless sentence transitions into his ideal vision of the mall.

The answer is definitely soulless. That’s the best way to lead into his idea of suburban dreariness.

What did you guys get for the CR question on how one paragraph in each passage about internet privacy were similar?(I think a few of the options were historical reference, personal anecdote etc.)

I picked analogy. Both were comparing privacy with something else… PLEASE TELL ME i’m RIGHT D:

'twas analogy.

is there a consensus on flipping switch?
