PSAT and SAT preparation Techniques-Advise from Test Gurus

All:

I am looking for some input from the great test achivers on this board. I have College Board Study Guides, Barron's, Kaplan materials. My only weakness is in Verbal Reading portion and some areas of writing. I am shooting for a 750 in verbal and writing sections. How could I do it? Please share me the secrets. People suggest that I should read NY Times, Washington Post, Smithsonian, Christian Science Monitor etc., to boost the reading comprehension. Please help me

Thanks

Mike

Have you taken any practice tests? If so, what did you get on each section. ;-0-0-0-0

Most newspapers are written at a 4th grade reading level, so I wouldn't focus on newspapers. Classic lit is much better, albeit more time-consuming.

You don't mention Princeton Review but they have the best verbal prep, in my experience.

mutha5050, I think it depends on the newspaper. the memphis commercial appeal? 3rd grade (whoohoo sucky public school system). My mom's Financial Times? precocious grownups. I think that the New York Times should help just fine! :)

get a test prep book vocab list to study vocab - easier, cuz u won't waste time learning words that'll never appear on the test (PR is good)
