I've been reading that some people have started to receive their letters from collegeboard for the PSAT scores. I made a 202 last fall, does anyone know what's the cutoff is for the distinguised letters? I live in texas and I read that some people received their letters today and yesterday. What are my chances of getting one

Just out of curiosity, were these letters mailed home or to school?

I think they were mailed home

im from texas, i havent gotten one yet

what was your score bigred? Mine is probably close to the cutoff so I'm not sure if I'll be getting one

212 so im commended hopefullly lol

cool, whenever you get yours, leave a message

i thought they sent those to your counselor?...

no, couselors and you get it, I think....You need to choose 2 schools for them to send their letters to

i doubt they've done that yet

bumpbumpbump

D received her letter yesterday from the school principal. The letters were all mailed together to the school. Her letter was dated April 16.

Got mine yesterday.

I got mine yesterday from the school. Which 2 schools are you all sending your scores to?

Just got one from the school today.

I scored a 207, so I'm not sure where the cutoff is. Anyone know how they determine the next round? By PSAT scores alone? I doubt 207 will get me to semifinalist status here in PA.

Just got my letter yesterday. 229 in Virginia. Hopefully I'll be OK for semifinalist.

So the letters we got mean we are definitely commended and may be semi-finalists? My counselor didn't explain how this works very well.

if you got a letter it means you're either commended or semi-finalist. you won't find out which until september.

Actually, there is a very slim chance of not getting commended. Next year they have a national cutoff for commended students, I think last year was like 203, but I'm not sure. You get the letter now if you are in a certain percentile, (97?). Semifinalist is set by scores the the state. Finalists have to submit SAT scores that show their PSAT wasn't a fluke, grades, a rec by the principal, an essay, and school info (EC, awards).

Hope that helps clear up some questions!

If you search the parent thread you can find a ton of info.

What happens if I know that I got into top 1% (PSATs in the 230s) and thus should be receiving the letter but my counselor hasn't given me the notice for it yet? Should I be worried?
