<p>Is there anything different on the PSAT that would require different preparation than you'd need for the SAT, with the exception of the essay?</p>
<p>Other big difference is that psat does not contain Alg II problems, whereas SAT does.</p>
<p>Well, the SAT is about twice as long, so you might want to do a few practice tests to build up your stamina. There is a little higher level math on the SAT. Other than that and the essay, the questions are similar. Many people use SAT prep books for the PSAT, and then take the SAT shortly after the PSAT--then they're done.</p>
<p>Some students did their SAT preparation in the summer between their sophomore and junior year. Then they took their October SAT I first and the PSAT about a week later. Usually they found the PSAT easier than the SAT they took a week earlier.</p>
<p>Wait....are you saying that you've already taken the SAT but are going to take the PSAT, or vice versa, or that you've taken neither?</p>
<p>Anyway...in my personal experience, the PSAT is much more like the ACT than the SAT - as far as answers go, at least. It seems more straightforward, with logical answers. But that might have only been the case for me...(nearly perfect scores on the PSAT and ACT, but really lousy on the SAT o.O...)</p>
<p>merpug, if you take the Oct. SAT I, it will be about a week before the PSAT which is offered only once a year in October (there are two different dates however depending on your school). My son took his SAT I last October a week before he took his PSAT and he was a junior last year.</p>
