@nw2this I do not think you can just convert the ranges as you also have to account for the change in no deductions from incorrect answers.
I got a 195 which is way too low for my state. Assuming that they were from this years scores, would that be definitive proof that we scored in the 99th percentile?
I received an email from Telluride, so I sent an email back. They just replied…
“Unfortunately, we are unaware of whether the College Board has released test scores to colleges and other programs. Please let us know if you have further questions.”
Just some more data for the thread…
TBH it seems like everyone got this email
I really don’t feel like reading all 65 pages on this thread, so I’ll just ask my question. I scored just under a 200 on the PSAT last year with no prep and used the scoring scale on the college board website for the new PSAT to predict my score this year, but it doesn’t seem to be accurate. Based on the new scale, missing 8-10 questions overall leaves me with a 217-219/228. Has anyone looked into this? I thought missing 10 questions would ruin any chance of national merit…
My son took PSAT this October and got some emails from Stanford and Harvard and a few more. All came in December. I don’t think because of his ACT or SAT. These colleges sent a lot of school brochure in the fall already.
@Bobbbbb you should ask them which psat percentile qualified someone for an email this year. If the percentile they used this year was 99% they are lying because many people on this thread did not reach that cutoff with their sophomore scores. If it is lower than 99% than what they claim is very plausible
Would my sat score (2240 single sitting/2330 superscore) help my chances at nms in any way? I feel like I’m not going to qualify based on PSAT score alone so I’m wondering if there’s anything else I could do to make up for it.
NMSC uses the Selection Index Score which consists of your Reading, Writing and Language, and Math Test Scores. These are on a 8 to 38 scale.
See link in post # 958
The grade sheet for the PSAT practice test had a table that converted the raw scores to Test Scores which could the be used to calculate the Selection Index Score, but there is no guarantee the Raw to Section score table of the actual test will match the practice test.
Personally, I feel it is not possible to use a 2014 PSAT score to accurately predict your 2015 PSAT score based on what we know now.
I think that part would already be accounted for in calculating scores and indexes. I’m trying to guess an approximate state cutoff which is further downstream. Not saying its the right answer, but I’ll feel more confident if my kid’s score exceeds it and less confident if it doesn’t.
Just wondering - as a sophomore, would I be receiving emails if I did well on the PSAT/NMSQT? I haven’t gotten any…and I don’t know if that’s bad or not.
@ambitionsquared: The first qualifier is the PSAT, so no, a great SAT score does not backdoor you into consideration.
Hey just wondering, why didn’t I get the email (personally) that the scores are going to be delayed until January 7th? Is there a chance I missput my email?
If you did, so did my daughter. No email here, either. (Sigh)
@chyaboi123 @Waiting2exhale I don’t think anyone got the email. The revised date was posted on the College Board website.
@payn4ward Alright thanks just making sure
@chyaboi123 Wait, are you talking about the email that had the directions to prepare for score release or was there another one? The subject line was “Getting Ready for your PSAT/NMSQT scores.” It was sent on December 17th and specifically said that scores would be released on January 7th.
Direct Quote: Congratulations on taking the PSAT/NMSQT®! You’ll be able to view your scores online starting on Thursday, Jan. 7. Here are your next steps to access your scores, start practicing for the new SAT®, and plan for college.
@foliontai I didnt get either lmao
@chyaboi123 That was the only one I got, so I’m assuming it was the only one sent…
I got that email address to me the parent reminding me to have my kids set up a college board account and that the release date would be January 7th. One of my boys did not have a College Boar account so maybe they only sent it to people with out CB accounts?
