I'm so happy! I finally got my results today!

210 and I'm from RI.

How did you guys all do? Feel free to post your selection index and state here.

Plus, one question: Does anybody know if in the past if RI's cutoff has ever dropped below 211, since I found out for the class of 2011 the cutoff was 211, and that would make me really mad if the cutoff spikes way up again. :/

Actually, RI dropping 6 points last year was a big anomaly. Where R.I.'s scores wind up this year will be interesting. My nephews live there, but are a few year’s out. For your sake, I hope it drops one point.

Well, I was looking at the cutoffs for the past 4 years, and I think the 217 was the anomaly, since, in order, it went 212 to 213 to 217 to 211. So there might be hope. :)

223 from Virginia, which is a little lower than I got last year as a sophomore. It’s still far enough above the traditional VA cutoff of 218/219 that it’s fine, though.

218 or 219. My score improved from last year, and the cutoff score for my public school last year was 208. I was in 11th grade then so I was in national merit consideration. Now that I go to boarding school, the cutoff is 223, so does that mean that I am completely done with national merit?

So, I have a question, and if anybody would post the answer, that would be great. Is there only a score cutoff for semifinalists and not finalists? Like saying that somebody who got a 240 from state A and somebody who got a 215 from the same state A, would they both have an equal chance if the cutoff for state A was 213?

RunLax - That’s correct. Once you meet your state’s cut-off, the PSAT score won’t matter for becoming a finalist. 15000 out of 16000 semi-finalists will become Finalists. The main reasons for not moving up are low or no SAT score, bad grades, low GPA, discipline problems or failure to turn in the paperwork.

I’m not even going to post my score up here, it’s horrible. I did get the best in my school this year though, which is sad. Have most of you had experience with the SAT or knew more about the SAT previously? It’s not popular in Arkansas, which I think is a lot of the reason for poor scores on the PSAT and the SAT in my area (small town). Or maybe we are ignorant hicks like everyone thinks. If so, I need to rethink my future…
