My score as a freshman was 161. 59 reading/54 math/48 writing.
How much can I expect to improve before my junior year? Is this a decent score or do I have a lot of work ahead of me?

that's pretty good for a freshman. You have two years so just go ahead and buy a few SAT/PSAT prep books and study over the summer. Take it easy because you have two years and depending on the amount of work that you put in, your score can improve anywhere from 20(which is a given) to 40-60 points.

try to get more exposure and experience with the psat and sat. I had only a 192 frosh year, but i bumped it up to a 211 and then 234, so anything's possible with lots of practice (i took at least 10 or 11 full practice tests)

i only improved from a 196 to a 207 after taking it 3 times.

I had a 171 on my freshman PSAT and went to a 200 soph. year, but only ended up with a a 206 in junior,

so much for harvard,

NO NO, I MUST STUDY!!!

170-202-226

Don't worry about it too much right now. You'll surprise yourself when you take it as a junior. It will seem so much easier. Even without any preparation.

i'd say forget the psats unless ur looking for the scholarship
the real thing u should be studing for is the sats,
they are longer and more important than the psats
if u can sit through full length sat tests the psats should be a breeze

I'm really tired of seeing ppl have a super high score their fresh/soph year... I got a 145 on my PSAT in my soph. year ... so I think you're good..

I also took the psat as a freshman and i got a score of 167, 56CR/60M/51W, is this a good score for a freshman?

I had a 179 soph and than 199 junior year. I just took the practice tests given to us upon registration. Practice is really key

My score didn't significantly improve.
sophomore year: 213
junior year: 222

I got a 187 score on the PSAT as a freshmen (56,72,59) and scored in 91st percentile. How much of a chance do I have of making it into the NMSQT my Junior year?

psat’s aren’t that important unless you honestly think you can get nmsqt scholarship. a lot of times, the psat’s aren’t indicative of your actual SAT scores

i scored a 181 soph year, 190 junior year but got a 2130 on the actual SAT’s

What did you do? Sleep on the test?
The only thing is to FOCUS 100%, you’ll go up greatly just by focusing.
I got 191 on my freshman PSAT.

I got a 205 on my freshman PSAT sans studying. Just try to really focus and work quickly. Sometimes, your math sequence and English class placement can considerably affect your PSAT score. What math and English were you in when you took the test? I was in Algebra 2/Trig and English 9 Honors.

Again, Fortis, this thread is 6yo.

i got a 194 as a freshman. ususally you grow should grow 10-15 points a year

You will deifntely make NMS…My sophomore PSAT score…44CR/48M/52W
My SAT score now as a Senior because I studied all last summer…570CR/650M/700W

I got 196 freshman year… 70 on writing, 65 on math, 61 CR. No studying. I’m a sophomore this year, hopefully I can improve enough to qualify for national merit. I think anything above 160 would be pretty good for a freshman.
