I am a freshman in high school and this year we had to take the PSAT, after 3 weeks of being in classes, so I really didn't know a lot especially in the math section... I think my score was a 157 or a 167 I can't remember.

Is that a really bad score (for a freshman)? My college Counselor wouldn't tell me anything. And is it an accurate prediction of my SAT score even though I'm a freshman??

No, it is not an accurate indicator of your SAT score at this point. Nor is it a terrible score. This year a 200 was in the 96th percentile for college-bound juniors, so you are on a good track. Keep up your studies. You will be learning a lot in the next two years about the types of things that are tested on the PSAT. You are probably a year or two below where maths tested on the PSAT ends and you are two years below the hardest English quizzed. Prepare diligently.

It’s a very average score, don’t worry about it.
Just keep taking practice tests and really drill into the material…
but I’d recommend you practice for SAT instead of PSAT because
SAT is a lot more important than PSAT unless you’re going for
National Merit Scholarships…

I feel like the PSAT is rarely very accurate. In tenth grade I took it, got a 180 (around there). Then in eleventh, I got a 201 with a 74 CR 68 Math 59 Writing. Later the same year (it’s not like it was years later or that I studied a lot) I got a 2130 on my SAT 650 CR 780 Math 700 Writing. My scores went all flippy. I think your scores were great for a freshman, you’ll only see improvement. Don’t be worried.

Going along with Parcheese, I got a 205 on my PSAT sophomore year and I’ve gotten a 2110 (I think) and a 2220, so…yeah, I’d say you’re going to go up, most likely. As you advance in mathematics class you’ll be more capable of answering higher-level questions.
