Hi,
I took the PSAT and got a 980 and that's a 1380 in the SAT. Will that take me to a good college? If I take prep courses, will that help me do better on the SAT?

That’s a 1380 out of 1600 (CR + M), right? That’s a pretty good score, but it’s below average for the Ivy-league schools and other prestigious universities. Getting each section up 50 points will tremendously help your score. I don’t know where you’re applying, but it is definitely a decent score compared to the national average of about 1000.

I don’t recommend prep courses unless you cannot work independently. It’s a good idea to do self-prep if you’re above 1300. You should probably pick up the blue book (the official SAT study guide) if you don’t have it.

Wait what? The PSAT is out of 240, so I don’t know how you managed to get a 980…
