I just got my PSAT score and it was a so bad :/
When I took practice tests with College board book, I got around 1340~1430 on the english sections.
Writing 700s
Reading 630~710
My math PSAT score was fine but I was terrified with my english score... My total score was a little below 2000..How exactly does the PSAT reflect the real SAT? Since I took it a few months ago, can it just be that I improved over the past few months? I am starting to panic..

I don’t think there’s very much correlation. I got in the 190s too, which was really disappointing so I took a College Board Practice Test to see if I’m really so bad and got a 2350. I’ve taken about 4 practice tests after taking the PSAT, and have been scoring above a 2200 consistently. So I don’t think it’s a really great predictor.

That makes me feel better. Thanks! I heard that because there are less questions on the PSAT than on SAT the score can drop tremendously even if you get one question wrong.

I agree. My daughter took the PSAT in October, and then the SAT a few weeks later and didn’t do any prep in between. Her SAT score was 110 points higher. She actually thought the PSAT was harder.

Well, that actually isn’t really that bad. It’s definitely above average. I got a projected 680ish on my Writing Skills PSAT as well, and a projected SAT score of around 2000. From talking to most of my friends and my college counselors, often SAT scores will be better then PSAT scores because the PSAT has less questions, so getting one wrong drops your score more. At the same time as I said while that’s not a perfect score it really isn’t terribly bad. Also a few months is actually a lot of time to improve- I’ve taken the PSAT three times, as well as the practice tests in the books and whatnot. In between each my scores have improved significantly even though I haven’t really done that much studying outside of school. So yeah, I wouldn’t worry too much.

Personally I thought the PSAT was easier because of the lack of an essay and shorter length. I also found the math and reading sections easier than the practice SATs I had been taking. PSAT: 225 Practice SATs: 2180-2220
