Psat

Im a soph in HS, and the other day i found a notice saying the PSAT's were gonna be held on October 15. I didnt even know about this-can i take them still?

It's a little late for taking PSAT's now, as it is December. Scores have already been released.

how will the fact that i havent taken the PSATs affect a college app.?

you are in 10th grade. PSAT's don't matter. the 11th grade ones will affect National Merit, but beyond that they have no real bearing. SAT's are the ones that count. I don't think I mentioned my PSAT's once on a college app.

Yeah, really, don't worry about it. I'm a sophomore as well, and while I DID take it, nothing really happens. You just get an idea of how you might score in the future. Besides, I didn't do that great this year anyway and this just motivates me to study more for next year's PSAT.

The SAT's are what will really count. PSATs are just for National Merit, which may mean you get a scholarship.

I did pretty badly, at least in my terms on the PSATs and did really well on the SATs. I know people who did the inverse. Were commended on the PSATs but screwed up royally on the SATs. Do not worry about not taking it. They don't matter, at least in 10th grade- its just practice.

Hey balla, i see you're from EG. I'm from Schaumburg. Small world. Don't worry about PSAT's as a soph. Sign up if you can, but if you can't, then just make sure you take them junior year. As everyone's been saying, soph year doesn't really matter for it, just practice, but good practice at that. I imagine you have plenty of time to still sign up.

thanks all, ill just take it next year, i was worried because i thought soph year was what affected NM. thanks again
