I know that my school makes all of the sophomores take the PSAT every year around January, so I will be taking it next year, but I honestly know relatively little to nothing about it. My main concern is how similar it is to the SAT. Harder? Easier? (Obviously, I am hoping for the latter.) Also, is there an essay section (I know there is writing/grammar), and how is it scored (guessing penalty, out of how many points, etc)? If I can muster (hypothetically) a 2350+ on the SAT, what should I expect on the PSAT? Thanks :)

No essay section. It is undoubtedly easier than the SAT. 1/4 pt penalty on guessing incorrectly but 1 pt gained for each correct answer (so just guess). If you can get a 2350 on the SAT, expect a 230 to 240 on the PSAT (and National Merit Semifinalist ranking to boot!).
