<p>The minimum score per state is not usually released; instead it's derived by asking people for their scores and their status.</p>
<p>The list is not released until the middle-to-end of September. The semifinalists and commended paperwork is sent to the high schools in advance of that, and the principals can choose to tell people in advance of the official date--or not.</p>
<p>I think the high schools are notified as soon as school starts, and they give the semi-finalist their application packets right away, since its similar to a college ap in terms of what you have to do. Also, I think you can call up the Nat' Merit Corp.--contact numbers on the web, to get specifics on minimum scores.</p>
