How would you suggest I prep for the PSAT. This will be my son's 2nd time taking it

He got a 1500 (600+ M, 400+ V, 400+CR) and I don't know what we could do to up those 400+'s.

He took it last October as a sophomore (he's a smart kid 3.7ish GPA at a tough high school).

Would subscribing to the SAT review that collegeboard offers be a good idea?

How do the SAT's compare to the PSAT's?

The 400 on the cr & w mean there is a lot of work to be done. Since he is a very good student he should be able to pick the strategies outline in the Silverturtle guide (at the top of this forum) quickly and then he needs to practice, practice, practice.

He can use SAT materials to practice for the PSAT since they are the same, only the SAT is almost twice as long. He needs to start right now before school gets under way. I think getting the hard copy College Board book (referred to as the Blue Book) would be better than doing the online course. It was much harder for my sons to do the online tests and you want it to be as close to the way he will take the actual test.

Here is a link to the old practice SAT which are in fact real SATs http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/766525-official-sat-practice-booklets-past-current.html#post1063114942. A new Practice PSAT and SAT will be available at your school sometime in August. Good luck!

I would also suggest getting a couple of previous PSATs from the collegeboard store so that he can practice with an actual test.
